Christine M. LaPlante, P.E., PhD
Dr. LaPlante is a Senior Engineer working with Griggs-Lang Consulting Geologists, Inc. She earned an Associates degree in Mathematics and Science from Hudson Valley Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in 1986, a Master of Science degree in Geotechnical Engineering from RPI in 1989 and a PhD in Civil Engineering from RPI in 1997.
Dr. LaPlante has extensive experience in the private sector and teaching at the college level. She is the current Chairwoman of the Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology and Computer Integrated Technology departments at the School of Engineering and Industrial Technologies at Hudson Valley Community College. She has also taught at RPI, Union College and the SUNY Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome. She has worked at General Dynamics, Clough Harbour & Associates, Civrotech Engineering, P.C., The Chazen Companies and Fuss & O’Neill as a consultant specializing in geotechnical and geo-environmental engineering.
Dr. LaPlante’s fields of expertise include stormwater design and permitting, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, hydrology, landfill permitting and design, soils, bid preparation, regulatory compliance assessment, inspection and monitoring, conceptual design, project plans and specifications, engineering and environmental analysis, construction certification documents, construction management, requests for proposals and expert testimony.
Dr. LaPlante is a licensed professional engineer in the State of New York. She is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, ASTM, American Association of Engineering Education, American Road & Transportation Builders Association, United States University Counsel for Geotechnical Engineering Research and Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honor Society.
